I was just answering some messages in eBay and noticed this:
Messages will store a maximum of 6 months of email as of Sep 12. Save older messages (http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/account/my-messages.html).
If you want any of your older messages saved you can download them to a zip file.
To save messages:
Select the check boxes next to the messages you want to save, and select Save messages… from the Move to drop-down menu at the top of the list of messages.
Select either EML or HTML as your file format, and then click the Continue button.
Click the Download Saved Messages button to download a .ZIP file that contains your messages.

Thanks for that, Wheels. I can't say I've really noticed my eBay messages hanging around for much longer than that, but if I need any of my messages saved, I'd best do that zipping.

This is easy business whatever new changes ebay want to implement on their messaging system.
When you send a message, always send a copy to your email.
When you receive a message, a copy is automatically send to your email.
Now ebay can't do anything to your email, so your messages are safe from ebay. If you need double or triple protection, then set a forwarder to automatically forward the email to 2nd or 3rd email account.

Ignoring my posts only boosts my Street Cred.

*blows Tello's street cred into smithereens*
I don't particularly want to keep eBay emails; I have so many emails to keep track of already, but of course you are right about it being a way of keeping the messages, Low.
