Do you have anything or want to find
~STRANGE~WEIRD~UNSUAL~BIZARE~HARD TO GET~
Put it here someone may just have one or want one.
-
Well, yes.
I do!
Hard-to-get - I want the CD of François le Roix singing Massenet mélodies. I already have the Gounod, the Fauré 4CD-set, the Debussy, the album of French duets, and a few others, but I want the Massenet. :please:
I want an audiobook (unabridged) of The Ivy Tree by Mary Stewart, for a relative of a friend who is in hospital.
I want the DVD of Don Giovanni with Rodney Gilfry as the Don - not the one with Cecilia Bartoli, but the one conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner in Amsterdam. (It was performed in the Concertgebouw for the Amsterdam Holland Festival 1994:directed by John Eliot Gardiner. The English Baroque Soloists, The Monteverdi Choir.
Don: Rodney Gilfrey
Leporello: Ildebrando D'Arcangelo
Donna Anna: Luba Orgonasova
Don Ottavio: Cristoph Pregardien
Donna Elvira: Charlotte Margiono
I want a first edition of Shakespeare's folios. Just hand them over, that's right...
:shop:
-
I want recipe books - at little or no cost - to go to Marysville
-
I'll look through my collection, Ewok.
-
I've not bought my problems in here before - but things are getting bad - residents are saying that is what they are missing most atm - they can;t even remember the most basic recipes and they lost everything - It's really sad :(
Books are being printed in QLD - but they will take months at this stage - as it is a freebie - but we need stuff now - On Sunday - one resident said that her favorite recipe for paddy melons has gone - and she started crying (apparent;y the melons survived the fire)
HOw can you fix that? - You can;t you can only try and relieve the distress :(
-
This is heartbreaking.
I donated a lot of books to the victims of some of the towns, but it hadn't occurred to me to think about recipe books.
-
I don't act on anything until I am informed what is needed - this is the most recent request - the others I have managed to fulfill - but this one is proving difficult :(
People haven't thought that recipe books are needed and to buy them outright costs an arm and a leg :(
I've emptied all the local thrift shops and them some - but good recipe books are often the first things off the shelves at those places :(
Anyway........................ - I'll keep plodding away - I always get there in the end
-
OK members there is your cue.
Dig out all those old recipe and do your bit for the victims
-
Where would people send the recipe books?
-
They can be sent to me OR to the Township - I am not sure what the mail service is like - I have been either transporting it myself OR getting it transported
The last lot of stuff that went up - came from Torquay via Geelong, Balwyn and then into Marysville - only took 24 hours!
So the choice is yours - I can give you either address - just drop me a PM and wwe can go from there
-
da_ewok I would be happy to send some to the town. Do I go to Messages here and send you a message? Or would it be OK if you put the town's address in a post ?
-
I don't think I can send a message
-
da_ewok you have a message ;D
-
Countess, That cd of le Roux singing Massenet melodies must be really difficult to find. I was having a quick look...zero :(
-
Ewok,
I have a friend who runs an op-shop, I'm going to see her today so will ask her to put aside any nice cook books for you, anything else you need?
Once I have them I'll message you.
:)
-
I've got two recipe books I can part with, and I'll do some op shop searching as well.
Centuries, I've been looking for that CD for some time... but I'm determined. The Gounod one popped up unexpectedly in the UK one day, and the Fauré in Germany.
-
will answer tonight - trying to get out door
IMp - I'll PM you tonight also
Thank-you everyone
Got to run - pea soup up here todau
-
Has anyone got any Extra Terrestrial artifacts?
I would be most interested in obtaining anything you are prepared to part with.
-
I am looking for an old book. I think it was published just after the Great War (1st WW).
"Warbirds. Diary of an Unknown Aviator" It was the diary of an unknown pilot who flew for Britain in WW1.
It did not have a dust cover and had a red hard cover. Not a large book. It could have been printed privately.
It belonged to my family when I was growing up and was facinating to read.
A needle in a haystack situation I feel.
-
Centuries, we have a shelf full of 'Biggles' and other WWII boys own type books but nothing from WWI.
-
Gracious wheels...I read all my brother's old Biggles books ;D
-
I am desperately looking for something from the Good Ole days.
when things were safe , fun and fruitful...
can you guess what it is..????
-
A Fruity Fun Pack?
An old girlfriend?
A hoola hoop festooned with flowers?
-
What you seek can be summed up in one word toyman
INTEGRITY
I think that stuff is an endangered species
-
Doesn't anyone have anything extra terrestrial?
I dont mean rayguns or communication gear, what I am talking about are meteorites and tacktites, you know stuff that is not of the Earth but a gift from outer space.
Also looking for some interesting fossils.
-
I have some toenail clippings from a Saturnian. (Not really.)
I'll check with some contacts at the ASV about the sort of thing you're after. Who knows? Someone may even have moondust.
-
Contessa,
At one time I was about 10 mm and 2 seconds away from holding a rock from the Moon.
At the crucial moment there was an interuption and the opertunity was lost for ever :(
-

If you find a meteorite, you're allowed to keep it unless you're in WA or SA.
-
Poddy and Countessa, I never realised there were so many 'space rocks' for sale.
http://www.meteorite.com/
My husband is a bit of a space geek - I only found out after being married to him for a few years that his childhood dream was to be one of the NASA guys, you know the ones that sit at the monitors with the pens in their pockets!
-
poddy I have these amazing sets of space images from the 80's on hi res colour slides by tersch images usa, i sold some of them on ebay a while back but still have plenty left, they were endorsed by nasa and used in the universities for teaching and have supernovas, a series on the moon, sunspots etc. if you want a box of 20 of them I can send and/or will scan them for you if you like on my high res. tranny scanner, some very rare shots there of the apollo missions issued by nasa and licensed to tersch, just let me know. Tersch are no longer around but the slide are, can burn a DVD for you if you like that sort of thing.
-
Hi there Gr8 :)
You seem to have the bees knees :)
Yes I am interested in anything that you have, can you tell that I am a bit of an extra terrestrial nut? hehehehe
Message me
-
ooh no space junk in my collection....I can wish though..
I do have some mighty fine fossils - have been collecting them for years and little animal skeletons too..
I do so like Smithsonian stuff and anything from a museum..
and before you ask I use them for Illustration purposes only..
does anyone have a dead body..??
LOL
so did anyone guess what it was I was looking for.?
-
I don't think anyone's guessed it, but perhaps a real Live Help employee is the sort of think you've been looking for?
-
a fruity fun pack - yes please..
an old girlfriend - no thanks , I am happily married...yes seriously..
a hula hoop festooned with flowers - oh yeah..! always wanted one of those tacky kitschy things, would of gone well with my missing Registered post parcel- a la Shell lamp...!! LOL

*wow* my first look at the emoticons, I am overwhelmed..Countess, could you please block this area, as I can see major overuse/abuse from me occurring..!

-
Has anyone got any Extra Terrestrial artifacts?
I would be most interested in obtaining anything you are prepared to part with.
Don't think that anyone would own up to having any Poddy, cause maybe if they do then the men in black may come get the artifacts to take to area51, but it would be very cool if someone did have something.
-
Hahahaha Ivy :)
I was meaning Meteorites ans Tektites but an interstellar communicator would be even better :)
-
Yeah a commlink would be good, one with a universal translater. I do know someone with a tricorder, but alas they won't part with it. Someone here did take what appears to be some UFO footage a few weeks back, I think it is on Youtube.
Can't help you with the meteorite stuff, is there anything listed on ebay?, oh strike that, if there is it would be priced up to the hilt.
-
Ivy I have been trying to develop a strain of bablefish for a while now, but the ones that show any [promise are too big to fit in the ear and they are a bit spiky for any other orifice.
But i wont give up :)
-
:roflmao:
-
It would be very disconcerting to have a talkative orifice.
-
Quite right Contessa, who knows what manner of secrets they could divilge.
The mind boggles at the mere thought of it
-
Beam me up Scotty...
**poof**
:wine:
-
Who you callin a poof Barny??? :o
-
Scotty
:wine:
-
:green:
Hey, I was told that Cpt Kirk never actually said that line..??
-
Oh, Barny... just for you...
-
Thanks Countess,
Now where, exactly, did you beam me to ??
:wine:
-
Hello Impy,
Maybe at was Ohura that said it... You know, the communications officer with the "right" fitting top.
:wine:
-
Barny, oops, sorry, I seem to have beamed you into a... Brick Factory!
-
Afternoon All.
There seems to be a bit of beaming going on here. Could be an appropriate time for a keelhauling.

The cat thinks so anyway.
-
It would be very disconcerting to have a talkative orifice.
Oh...I dunno Countess.
Bwoocie has managed to do it for years! :fishing:
-
I'm not going there... *backs away*
-
Chicken! :roflmao:
**Hope I don't get slapped...I did once for saying 'Termite'!
-
Termite???!!! A slap for that roo? Phew!
My favourite panacea :choc:
-
Yeah Centuries...
Earlier in the night I had written a post where I compared forum trolls to termites.
Both ate away at the foundations until their home was destroyed.
I guess someone didn't like me posting that word straight after their post.... :green:
-
They will be slapping each other soon.....
:chocdip:
-
As Yibida said.. Slip Slop SLAP !!
