Very open question but relevant. As a general rule I believe any type of group think or identity can be dangerous. But, there are many righteous groups out there that are beneficial. Tunnels to Towers for example.

That's why I phrased it as group identification, to assuming something about a group of people based on race, religion or political standing. I mean, I'm pretty sure that's what's caused such an uproar for BLM to start, some cops assuming all black peo… See More

Got it. Identification. I don't identify as anything but an individual. Period. Why would I?

Groupthink was how Communism began. It's how millions of people were starved to death. It is every bit how George Orwell wrote 1984 and Animal Farm to warn us. Did we listen?

Justa Guy I can see what your saying, I suppose my point of view is more aligned with the concept that making assumptions based of something as trivial as something someone had no control over as it was, that it only emotionally benefits those making the assumptions, I havent seen any evidence in this day and age the supports the thought process of "this person looks like all those so they must be the same", it's not obvious to me how assumptions which are used to form group based bias can help us get to the point where we at least can all maybe not be happy, but not be belittling 😛
